Using Renewable Energy To Power A Distillery

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we partnered with The Change Climate Project to assess our climate impact & take action to reduce our carbon emissions. Part of our assessment focused on the efficient use of renewable energy in our distillery.

We were driven to do the right thing from the get-go, which is why we installed a solar array in 2012. Our field of five solar panels generates almost all of the electricity used to run the distillery from the sun’s power alone.

Using solar energy to power our building allows us to reduce our carbon emissions & gave us a big head start on the road to becoming climate neutral.

After assessing our carbon footprint, we realized one large area of opportunity was to shift to renewable natural gas to fuel oil boilers. Rather than fossil fuels, this renewable fuel is a byproduct from local farms, breweries & our own distillery.

Distilling fine craft spirits is an energy intensive process. But by working with groups like The Change Climate Project, we have found solutions to offset our energy consumption & ensure that our distilling process is gentle on the Earth.
